The goal of the program is to educate the public on how to live a higher quality life with minimal health risks.
Every 4th Thursday of the Month | 12 Noon until 1 PM
Mr. Riley “B.B.” King suffered from diabetes for several years, and felt early detection, education, and awareness was the key to improving the widespread disease. In honoring such a great man, the B.B. King Museum has partnered with Mississippi State University Extension Services, The Sunflower County of Diabetics Council, and the Community Foundation of Northwest MS/ Maddox Foundation to offer a program bringing awareness and education to the community on ways to improve health, as it relates to managing diabetes.
“Be SMART and Control Your Diabetes” is a FREE open-to-the-public program that meets every fourth Thursday of the month from January to November. It provides essential information on topics ranging from the benefits of healthy living, warning signs and preventive measures, and managing and coping with diabetes. Health experts generously give their time and skills in an effort to enhance the overall health and wellness of the community. Lunch will be provided for participants and parents/guardians.
